Elba Island Off Season: What to Do and See

Too often the Elba Island is typed into search engines for summer holidays only, but in reality what our fantastic island, called “scoglio” by us Elbans, offers is much more than an unforgettable summer holiday.

During the spring scents that overwhelm the island, painting it with breathtaking colors and the period in which the leaves fall, Elba establishes itself as an ideal location for trekking enthusiasts and for those who want to explore the most suggestive places for a swim in crystal clear waters with mild and pleasant temperatures and for the first tan of the sun on almost deserted beaches. If you are wondering which is the hottest beach out of season, well we can only mention the beautiful grainy beach of Cavoli, along the “Costa del Sole” a stretch of road along the sea overlooking the islands of Montecristo and Pianosa, on the south-western side of the island of Elba. This beach is in fact very sought after precisely because you can afford to bathe more or less 9 months a year, as if winter never peeked out here. The frame of granite rocks and the colors of the sea certainly make Cavoli one of the most famous beaches on the island.

What many people don’t know is that the highest peak on our rock reaches 1,019 meters in height and can be reached not only by walking through nature but also by a cable car or more precisely “cestovia” that starts from Marciana and from which you can enjoy a spectacular 360° view especially on clear days. Also in this case it is a mountain mainly composed of granite rock.
Are you wondering what else is left to do on autumn days? Let’s get to it right away: definitely not to be missed is the “grape festival”, 3 days in October in which Capoliveri becomes the queen of the rock and where there is certainly no shortage of fun, accompanied by good freshly squeezed wine.
But Elba Island is not only what we have told you about up to now but also a destination for massages and treatments of all types and for all ages with a view of the gulf of Portoferraio, a few minutes from the historic center of the capital. We are referring to the Terme di San Giovanni open 365 days a year. With this brief summary we hope that you will take the opportunity to make a stop even for just a short weekend on our fantastic island, Elba is waiting for you!
